  Thomas James Engels, 71, of Merlin died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at his home.

  No services are planned. Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives is in charge of arrangements.

  Engels was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Los Angeles. In 1997, he retired as vice president of marketing for Hines and Associates in San Jose, Calif.

  He was a member of the Merlin Moose Lodge and he enjoyed fishing and taking his German shepherds to dogs shows with his wife.

  In addition to his wife, Gail Engels, survivors include a son, James Dunn of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Janene Dunn of Oklahoma City; and a sister, Sharron Butler of Kalispell, Mont.
