Grants Pass Fire Rescue is hosting a free event to check car seats and help people install them correctly, and eligible families can buy a new car seat for $20 to $30.

Car seats for babies and children can cost anywhere from about $50 each to hundreds of dollars.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Fire Station, 199 N.W. Hillcrest Drive, Grants Pass.
