  Cheryl D. Smith, 58, of Grants Pass died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital in Portland after a long illness.

  Wherity Family Cremation and Burial Service in Tualatin is in charge of arrangements.

  Smith was born Sept. 2, 1943, in Whittier, Calif.

  In July 1960, in Grants Pass, she married Fred W. Smith, who survives.

  She attended high school in Medford, and worked locally as a beautician.

  She enjoyed her family, painting, fishing, camping, her dogs and bowling.

  In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Wyatt Smith of Portland, and David Smith of Central Point; two daughters, Denesa Johnston of Carson City, Nev., and Roxane Smith of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Karen Thompson of Grants Pass; a brother, Greg Thompson of Grants Pass; and three grandchildren.
