Rainie Falls Trail (Rogue River Trail)

Rating (Out of 5): 3.5

Location: Near Merlin, Ore.

Distance: 4 miles round-trip

Difficulty: moderate

Camping: No

Quick hit: This very popular trail is narrow in places but offers excellent views of the Rogue River below. During spawning season, salmon and steelhead can be seen jumping at the falls. Unlike the official Rogue River Trail across the river, this trail is shaded during summer. Rainie Falls is a large swath of swirling water at the end of the trail.

Directions: From Grants Pass, take Interstate 5 north for 3.1 miles to Merlin exit 61. After the exit, turn left onto Merlin Road and continue west on Merlin-Galice Road for about 22 miles until you reach Grave Creek Bridge. Do not cross the bridge. The trail begins on the south side at a marker.
