ROGUE ELK COUNTY PARK (Shady Cove area)

General Description: Located on 33 acres of park land, Rogue Elk provides around .75 miles of river access for fishing. People also go rafting, swimming and picnicking in at the park, which features a campground, 15 RV hookups, electricity/water, trailer dump station, showers, picnic tables, barbecue pits and a playground.

Fish: Trout (year-round); summer steelhead (September, October); winter steelhead (March, April).

How to land'em: With spring chinook salmon spawning above the boat ramp, there’s good summer steelhead action to be had floating different types of eggs and egg patterns all along the park. For winter steelhead, eggs also work well. The water is fairly shallow and anglers can cover good distances along the shoreline, fishing as much water with eggs as possible.
