General Description: This larger park is located just south of Grants Pass, and features 31 campsites (29 with full hook ups), showers, toilets, a picnic area, reservable shelter, boat ramp and fishing platform. There also are basketball courts, ballfields and a playground. Day use fees are required for all county parks.
Fish: Winter steelhead (January, February, March, April); Fall chinook (August, September, October, November)
How to land'em: Winter steelhead can be caught along the gravel bar above the boat ramp, in water that’s typically 2 to 6 feet deep. Plugs, yarnballs soaked in Pautzke’s Nectar and pieces of roe are a good bet to side-drift above the boat ramp. For fall chinook, the best fishing typically begins around or below the boat ramp in what’s called the “white rocks” area. Anglers often find success for salmon by running KwikFish through the deeper water below the Schroeder Park’s boat ramp. Those running a drift boat often continue down to the Lathrop Landing, which also has good fishing holes for fall chinook.
