Level 3 evacuation notices downgraded as Woodrat Mountain Fire near Ruch holds steady

The Woodrat Mountain Fire burning near Ruch did not grow on Friday and all “Level 3 - Go Now” evacuation notices have been downgraded, the Oregon Department of Forestry said.

The fire remained at 282 acres as firefighters made “significant” progress at containment on Friday, ODF said in a social media post at 7:42 p.m. Friday.

Although Level 3 evacuation levels were downgraded, other evacuation levels “remain active, and residents should continue checking rvem.org/fires for current evacuation information and maps,” ODF said.

The fire, initially called simply the Woodrat Fire, grew quickly Thursday but was stopped overnight. There has been no word of structures burned.
