How to play

  1. Supply us with your contact information and click the “Submit info” button.
  2. Pick the teams you think will win our 10 selected high school, college and pro games.
  3. Type in the total number of points you think will be scored by both teams in the tiebreaker game and click on the “Enter game selections” button.
  4. Check back at www.thedailycourier.com the Monday following the games to see if you won the weekly prize and how you stacked up against our guru and the other contestants.

What you win

Each week, the person with the best record and tiebreaker score will win a prize from one of our weekly sponsors.

Also, if your record is better than our Gridiron Guru, also known as Daily Courier Sports Editor Lance Ogden, your name will go into a drawing for the grand prize — a $300 gift certificate from Joe’s Sports Bar & Grill. If you can beat our guru all 10 weeks, you'll have 10 entries for the grand prize. The drawing for the $300 gift certificate from Joe’s Sports Bar & Grill will be held after the 10th week of the contest is completed.

Rules, terms and conditions

Employees of the Daily Courier and their families are not eligible. There is a limit of one entry per person, per week. Contestants must enter online. No paper ballots will be accepted.

Entries will be accepted beginning at noon on Tuesday and running through Friday at noon each week.

The contestant with the best win-loss record will win the weekly prize. In the event that two or more contestants tie for the top record, and are still tied after the tiebreaker, those contestants' names will be put in a hat and a winner will be drawn at random.

In the tiebreaker game, contestants will try to predict the total number of points scored by both teams in one of our games. If you believe the score will be 21-14, you would enter 35 in the tiebreaker box. The one that comes closest to the actual number of points scored in that game will be the winner.

Weekly winners will be notified by telephone or email each Monday. The name of the winner will be published in the Daily Courier and on www.thedailycourier.com each week.

The grand prize winner will also be notified by telephone following the 10th and final week of the contest. That person's name will be published in the Daily Courier and on www.thedailycourier.com.

In the unlikely event that no one beats the guru over the 10 weeks of the contest, every registered contestant will be in the drawing for the grand prize — the $300 gift certificate from Joe’s Sports Bar & Grill.

In the event that a game is not played, it will count as a win for all contestants. If all the games for a given week aren't played, the contest will be postponed for that week and another week will be added to the end of the contest.
